Professional School Counselor Standards Module in Home Base

The “NC School Counselor Standards and Evaluation” module in Home Base is designed to enhance understanding of the North Carolina Professional School Counselor Standards and Evaluation and implementation of a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with The ASCA National Model: A Framework for School Counseling Programs. Since this module is designed for implementation, it is best suited for practicing school counselors. This module takes participants step by step through activities that foster implementation of comprehensive school counseling programs, thus assisting participants with higher ratings on their evaluations, preparation for applying for RAMP (Recognized ASCA Model Program), and most importantly, supporting student success. This self-paced module is very extensive, thus should take approximately 30 hours to complete and will earn 3 CEUs on completion. It includes four sections - an overview of the ASCA National Model, review of the NC School Counselor Standards, the NC evaluation process and then aligns the National Model and Standards for implementation. You will find this module in the Home Base NC Educator Effectiveness Professional Development suite.

Regional Education Services Alliances (RESAs)

Eight Regional Education Services Alliances (RESAs) across the state provide educational services to school systems. RESAs are separate organizations from NCDPI; however, in addition to the independent services they provide, they do collaborate with NCDPI to help meet the needs of each region. Below are links to each region's web site along with the archived regional NCDPI Wiki pages from the Race to the Top grant collaboration. Your school district's district coordinator of professional development may be able to provide you with additional information on services available through the RESA in your area.

NOTE that RESA regions are very similar to the legislated State Board of Education/Department of Public Instruction districts shown in the map above,

but are no longer identical and may have some school districts along their borders that are in another RESA's membership.
